Michel Brunet

Chair of the Board

Michel Brunet practices corporate and commercial law in the Montréal office of Dentons Canada LLP, of which he was President (Chair) from 2005 to 2017. He was Managing Partner of the Montréal office of Fraser Milner Casgrain (FMC) and has served on the firm's National Council. He was also Chief Executive Officer of FMC, one of the founding firms of Dentons. He is a Director of Aéroports de Montréal (ADM).

Diane de Champlain

Most of her career has been spent in the world of communications and philanthropy. A graduate of the Université de Montréal and HEC Montréal, she was President of the Parents Association of Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf and a member of its Board of Directors. Later, she was entrusted with the reins of the Polytechnique Foundation as President and Chief Executive Officer. Her mandate was to raise $100 million for Polytechnique as part of the Campus Montreal campaign. The goal was exceeded with $111 million collected. She decided at the end of the campaign, in October 2017, to leave and continue to devote herself to other causes that are dear to her. She is the Secretary of the Board for the Fondation des Artistes.

Daniel Charron, PhD, C.Adm.

Daniel Charron has worked for over twenty years at the intersection of finance, business, public relations and sustainable development. As Vice-president at Fondaction since 2020, he put in place an ambitious vision to position the organization as a world leader in sustainable finance. Previously, he headed Réseau Capital and contributed for over twelve years to building the reputation of Octane Stratégies, which he led as President and Managing Partner until its sale to NATIONAL. He was also CEO of Manufacturiers et Exportateurs du Québec. He holds a doctorate from Sciences Po Paris and degrees from Université de Montréal and HEC Montréal. Montréal. He currently sits on the executive committee of Partenariat Climat Montréal, as well as on the boards of Réseau Capital and the Fondation des artistes. He is also a member of the Canadian Sustainability Reporting Standards Council.

Marine Hadengue, BEng, MSc, PhD

Chief Executive Officer

A former fellow of the Foundation, Marine Hadengue is the CEO of the Arbour Foundation.

She is also the CEO of the Higher Education for Good Foundation, an organization based in Switzerland that specializes in helping Higher Education Institutions transform their curriculums to meet the needs of the mid-21st century. In this context, Marine leads Youth Talks, a groundbreaking initiative that marks the first-ever global youth consultation asking open-ended questions and using advanced AI tools. An engineer by training, Marine holds a Ph.D. in innovation management from Polytechnique Montreal and sits on the International Advisory Board of the Peter Drucker Society.

André Monette

Mr. Monette graduated magna cum laude as a chemical engineer from Polytechnique Montréal and received a diploma in advanced management from Harvard University. He was President and CEO of Johnson & Johnson France, then became President and CEO of Janssen Pharmaceutical in Toronto. He has acted as President of the governance committee at the R.E. Fund of Fonds de Solidarité des Travailleurs du Québec (FSTQ) and served as a member of the board of several institutions including Investissement-Québec and the Real Estate Fund of the FSTQ. He has served as a member of the investment committee of several institutions including the New Economy of the FSTQ and Amorchem, an institutional Life Science investment fund.

Jacques Simoneau

Jacques Simoneau is a corporate director and a business advisor. A C-suite executive with expertise in venture capital (VC), private equity investments and technology transfers, he led teams managing billion-dollar portfolios at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and at Solidarity Fund QFL. He was also CEO of Univalor, a technology transfer organization, and of Hydro-Québec Capitech, a corporate VC fund specialized in cleantech and energy investments. A graduate of McGill-Rotman’s Directors Education Program and certified ICD.D, his recent boards of directors include Transat A.T., Azimut Exploration and Genome Canada. Dr. Simoneau started his career as a professor at the Royal Military College of Canada and then joined Alcan’s research laboratories (now part of Rio Tinto Alcan). He is a professional engineer with a M.Sc. from Laval University and a Ph.D. from Queen’s University.
