Our Scholarships

Our scholarships are among the highest in the country. Furthermore, we are one of the few funding organizations in Canada to consider applications from international students. We fund students at our partner universities in the fields of engineering, computer science, and business administration.

Doctoral scholarships are offered
in three key fields for the future of Quebec.

Our scholarships cover a wide range of academic disciplines to support
the diversity of research in Quebec. However, the list of eligible programs may vary
from one university to another, so we recommend checking directly with the institution concerned.

Engineering

The Foundation supports master’s and doctoral engineering students who develop innovative solutions to major technological and industrial challenges.

Computer Science

The scholarships are intended for future digital experts working to advance research in computer science and information technology, at both the master’s and doctoral levels.

Business Administration

The Foundation supports tomorrow’s leaders enrolled in MBA, master’s, or doctoral programs, who are called upon to transform the business world and Quebec’s economy.

Arbour Doctoral Scholarships

Through its doctoral scholarships, the Arbour Foundation invests in the ideas, discoveries, and innovations that will shape the world of tomorrow. By financially supporting some of the most promising doctoral students, it enables them to dedicate their energy to excellent research whose benefits will contribute to society as a whole. Valued at $35,000 per year, the doctoral scholarship is renewable up to twice, for a total support of up to $105,000 over three years.

Arbour MBA Scholarships

Investing in leadership means investing in the future. The Arbour Foundation supports MBA candidates who distinguish themselves by their ambition, potential, and desire to contribute to the economic and social development of Quebec. Valued at $23,000, the MBA scholarship provides them with the necessary support to cross a decisive stage in their professional journey.

Mentorship Program

A Successful Program

In addition to the scholarships it awards, the Arbour Foundation offers a mentorship program to its scholars. Based on their respective areas of expertise, members of the Board of Directors are available to advise and guide selected scholars throughout their studies and in their respective careers.

Sharing Experience

Each Arbour Foundation scholar is offered the opportunity to be mentored by one of the Foundation’s Board members for the duration of their scholarship. This mentorship consists of regular meetings between the mentor and the student. The student then has the opportunity to benefit from their mentor’s extensive experience and professional network.

Opportunities

Each year, approximately fifteen of our scholars have the opportunity to be mentored by members of our Board of Directors. These students receive personal and professional guidance that helps them excel even further. They also benefit from the valuable networks of our Board members, which has helped some secure jobs or internships with prestigious organizations. Each year, a survey is distributed to these students to ensure that the program is meeting their expectations. The Foundation fully intends to continue offering this opportunity to its scholars.

Supporting Technological Entrepreneurship

The Arbour Foundation supports the transition from research to market by supporting researchers, students, and partnerships that transform scientific advances into technology companies.

Our Approach

At the Arbour Foundation, we believe that Quebec’s economic growth also depends on the development of technological entrepreneurship. In addition to our regular scholarships, we also fund the transformation of technology and deep-tech projects into start-ups, from the university laboratory to market launch. According to some experts, the conversion rate of university technology projects into start-ups is approximately 10% in Boston, compared with less than 1% in Montreal. This is precisely where we want to make a difference: we want to support students who wish to take their research beyond the laboratory and put it into practice for the benefit of society.

In partnership with IVADO, the Arbour Foundation supports scientific entrepreneurs who transform cutting-edge research in digital intelligence into concrete solutions. Through complementary funding offered as part of the Mitacs Accelerate program, the Foundation facilitates collaborative research projects that are essential to the development and innovation of their companies.

Application submission
Fill out the program-specific form and submit your application to your university, attaching all required supporting documents. Important: Applications sent directly to the Arbour Foundation will be automatically rejected.

Following an initial selection by your university, successful candidates are invited to an in-person individual interview.

Application submission

Procedures and deadlines vary from one university to another. Candidates must check with their institution.

August 2027

In-person selection interviews

The Arbour Foundation’s selection interviews take place in person, usually during the third week of August. In 2027, the interviews will take place from August 16 to 20, inclusive. Precise dates are communicated as soon as they are known.

September 2027

Announcement of recipients

The final decision of the Arbour Selection Committee is communicated by email to all candidates during the month of September.

Fall and Winter 2027

Scholarship disbursement

The scholarship amount is paid in two equal installments, generally in October and February, with the second installment conditional on receiving proof of full-time registration for the winter semester. The funds are disbursed through your university.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, only if you completed your bachelor’s or master’s studies in Quebec (without interruption). The university and program can be different. This option does not apply to international students.

Yes. Three situations are possible:

a. Resuming or starting a program after an interruption

Canadian citizens and permanent residents who resume or undertake a master’s or doctoral degree after an interruption of their studies of more than 12 months (excluding internships completed as part of a university program) must have completed two full-time semesters or be in the process of completing a second full-time semester at the time of submitting their application. This second semester may be a summer semester in progress at the time of the interview and duly completed by the time the scholarship is awarded.

b. Authorized leave

If you are on authorized leave (maternity leave, for example) at the time of submitting your application, you are considered eligible if you were enrolled full-time for at least two semesters during the 12 months preceding this leave.

c. International students

International students must have completed two full-time semesters or be in the process of completing a second full-time semester at the time of submitting their application. This second semester may be a summer semester in progress at the time of the interview and duly completed by the time the scholarship is awarded.

Yes. A Canadian citizen or permanent resident who has completed all or part of their university studies elsewhere in Canada (outside Quebec) may submit a scholarship application when they plan to start an eligible program at one of the Arbour Foundation’s partner universities.

Yes, provided your program is eligible.

Yes, if you are enrolled full-time for both semesters (fall and winter).
