Privacy Policy
The use and retention by the Arbour Foundation (“the Foundation”) of personal information will be carried out in compliance with all applicable laws.
The Foundation is responsible for all personal information under its control, including personal information disclosed to third parties for processing purposes.
The consent of any person concerned will be obtained before or at the time of the collection, use, disclosure or retention of personal information about them, unless authorized by law.
Only personal information necessary for the identified purposes will be collected by the Foundation, which will do so fairly and lawfully, more specifically for:
● the selection of Foundation scholarship recipients;
● the payment of scholarships, salaries and fees paid by the Foundation;
● the preparation of its annual report;
communication with the community, including donors, scholarship recipients, applicants, partners and individuals who participate in the Foundation’s activities or use its services (annual reports, electronic newsletters, podcasts or any other communication activity);
● accounting requirements and other financial purposes, such as the preparation and issuance of tax receipts;
● the compilation of statistical data related to key performance indicators (KPIs) and the evaluation of the effectiveness of scholarship programs;
● compliance with legal requirements;
● any other purpose for which it obtains the consent of the parties concerned.
The Foundation may, in particular, disclose personal information to the following persons:
● members of the Foundation’s Selection Committee;
● the member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors who would act as a mentor for the applicant;
● members of the Board of Directors for the awarding of the Pierre-Arbour Honorary Award;
● any person who, on the basis of written authorization from the scholarship applicant, requests the information as a representative of the applicant or recipient.
Personal information will be retained for as long as necessary to fulfill the identified purposes.
A misleading statement by an applicant to the Arbour Scholarship competition will result in disqualification and termination of the scholarship. The Foundation reserves the right to recover amounts already paid.
Upon request, the Foundation will correct any inaccuracies brought to its attention in personal information during the period in which it is retained.
Regardless of the format in which the information is retained, the Foundation will protect personal information against loss or theft, as well as against unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
Any person may withdraw their consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. If such withdrawal takes effect during the scholarship eligibility period, the applicant’s eligibility for the scholarship and the Foundation’s ability to administer payments may be reduced or eliminated (the scholarship may not be awarded or subsequent payments may be cancelled following the withdrawal of consent).
In the event of non-compliance with the principles set out above, any person may file a complaint with the Foundation. If the complaint is found to be justified, the Foundation will take appropriate measures as soon as possible.
